Red Carpets

Monday, September 7th, 2009

We chatted to the owner of IrishRedCarpets.com last week and here is how is went:

RW: Why does a bride choose a red carpet?

IRC: The bride and groom might choose to have the red carpet to make their ceremony venue a little bit more special.  Our carpets are brand new and they can really make a difference in any church or venue.   Some couples also choose to have one if the current carpet or lino in their church is a bit tired.

RW: Is it really necessary though?

IRC: Nothing is absolutely necessary, it is entirely up to the couple what they would like out of their big day.  We are very aware that the current economic climate will tighten up a lot of belts, so we offer a competitive rate for our services.

RW: Explain your typical day with a wedding.

IRC: Most of the time we will visit the church prior to the wedding day.  On the actual day itself, we travel to the venue.  Lay the carpet (It takes two), and ensure it is secure and nobody will be tripping over it!  We wait for the bride to arrive and then during the mass, we might pop off for a coffee.  After the mass and everyone has left, we roll up and get ready to go home.

RW: Have you ever had any unusual requests?

IRC: Well we’ve been asked to cover and entire room with our carpet, the room was for a reception.

RW: Can you cover small aisles?

IRC: Yes, we have a range of carpets, from the short to the very long.

RW: How about a discount for RealWeddings.ie users?

IRC: Of course!  Just mention RealWeddings.ie when you are booking and we will look after you.

RW: Any advice to brides and grooms?

IRC: Just have a wonderful day, and if you are looking at getting a carpet contact us and we can guide you through everything.

RW: One more thing, can you show us a recent wedding photo you did?

IRC: Sure, here you go.

The nerves got the better of this couple, with Andrew mixing up his words and Melissa taking a fit of laughter.

Wedding Cake DIY

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

You’d have to be extremely brave to attempt making your own wedding cake.  There are two arts to it, first of all the baking of the cake, then you have the icing and decoration.

One RealWeddings.ie bride got very lucky, when her Nan offered to bake the cake, and her Auntie offered to ice and decorate it.   The Nan’s cakes are the talk of the town and the Auntie has an incredible skill of making things with her hands.

The bride sent us this picture of the trial cake.

Each Rose was hand-made, and while it is only the trial version, we can’t wait to see the one from the actual wedding day!

Matching Bridesmaids – Some of us disagree

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

The latest craze seems to be going out of your way to ensure each bridesmaid looks unique, wearing the same colour or shade and then picking a style that suits the individual.

From our point of view, it is an honour to be a bridesmaid, and you should wear what you’re told!  The pictures to us shown here, look like a bunch of guests standing around the bride.  What happens if you choose green for your bridesmaid, they would be totally indistinguishable from the guests (if 30 of them show up wearing green).  What next? Invites stating the colour a guest should and shouldn’t wear?

Danielle Bux and Gary Lineker have lavish Italian wedding

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

Although the couple started with a simple £400 civil ceremony, they didn’t miss the opportunity for a star filled event, blowing £250,000 on a extravagent reception for 50 guests.

Taking place in Ravello, on the Amalfi coast, the ceremony took place in the local village hall, with just two guests present to see the pair tie the knot.

Danielle wore a simple cream dress for the service, but then slipped into her dream gown for the opulent party, taking place the next day. Looking blissfully happy, the bride posed for pics in a £9,000 satin custom-made gown, designed by Suzanne Neville.

The reception was held at the luxurious Hotel Caruso, with the newly-weds checking into a opulent three-bedroom suite, with jacuzzi and sea views.

The couple first met two-years ago in a blind date. This is 48-year-old Lineker’s second marriage – he first wed Michelle Cockayne in 1986, only to divorce 20-years later in 2006 – and 30-year-old Bux’s first.

ChristChurch Cathedral Wedding

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

One of the most amazing venues in Ireland, Christchurch Cathedral held it’s first wedding in years and the end of August.

The florist was our very own RosieDays.com, and just take a look at the video for the most breathtaking look at the kind of flowers and arrangements that were done for the very special day.

The reception followed at No.6 Kildare Street.
