FILM star Audrey Hepburn’s bridal gown for her planned wedding to a Huddersfield man has been sold for Sterling £13,800.
Hepburn bought the ivory satin dress designed by the Fontana Sisters to wear for her marriage to industrialist James Hanson.
It was snapped up by an anonymous British collector this week.
She called it “love at first sight” when she got engaged to Hanson in 1952.
Hepburn, 23, set a date and had the wedding dress fitted but decided at the last minute the marriage wouldn’t work because both had demanding careers.
Hepburn’s bridal gown went under the hammer with 35 of the star’s dresses, hats, belts and letters by Kerry Taylor Auctions at La Galleria in London, on Tuesday night.
The collection, sold by Hepburn’s friend Tanja Star-Busmann, made Sterling £268,320 and will go to The Audrey Hepburn Children’s Fund.
