We were away for the ‘Wedding of the Year’,  however we read today that the lovely couple are sending their thanks to a whole county, for making them feel so welcome… awwww.

Before returning from their honeymoon in Tanzania, the newlyweds penned a letter to personally thank “the people of Leitrim for making our wedding day so special for us, our families and our guests”.

The letter — seen by the Irish Independent — will be published this week in local newspapers.

It reads: “Dear Madam, We would like to take this opportunity to thank the people of Co Leitrim and in particular the town of Mohill, the community around Aughavas Church and all the staff at Lough Rynn Castle for making our wedding day so special for us, our families and our guests.

“It was truly a memorable few days for us in lovely Leitrim.”

A spokeswoman for the couple said their decision to write to the people of Leitrim was a reflection of how warmly they had been received.

Dubbed “The Wedding Of The Year”, more than 250 guests saw the couple become man and wife at St Joseph’s Church, Aughavas and attended a private reception later in Lough Rynn Castle Hotel, Mohill, on July 2.
