White Bridesmaids Dresses

Words I would never really put together ‘White Bridesmaids Dresses’.  Noooooooo too much like the bride.  Wouldn’t people get confused as to who the bride actually is? (With the exception of those who know her of course).

Looking at some of the images though, they can be very classy.  I’m still on the fence though.

Kilkenny Suit Hire

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

There has been so much bad press about suit hire in recent months, we had however heard about some great things happening in Kilkenny, so with that we got in contact with Patricia Keane, owner of Top Hat Kilkenny.  She is extremely passionate about her work, and the professionalism she expects in Top Hat is clear to see.

Read about a typical customer experience direct from Top Hat.

Top Hat is situated on the Parade in Kilkenny city in the Georgian Houses that are steeped in history.

When a Bride and Groom arrive at Top Hat they are met by one of my team, and are brought to our private showroom. Our showrooms are to the rear of our store which makes them totally private with plenty of natural light.

At this stage we go through the colours of our suits and styles, waistcoats and the colour of neckwear, we match the colour of neckwear to the colour of the bridesmaid if you so wish or we can use a neutral colour, as we have over 160 colours available we can match every colour

The Groom starts by trying on a suit to deter if the colour suits his complexion and then we complete the look by adding a waistcoat and tie, we work through all the colours to find what suits him best, the theme of the wedding and to make sure he loves his wedding outfit.

Shoes are very important we have shoes to hire or to buy. With our chocolate brown or beige suits we have a two tone shoe that just perfect and very comfortable

For all the other colours of suits we have black shoes.

To give the Groom a preview of how he will look on the day we finish the outfit by adding a hankie in the pocket and a flower in the buttonhole. He can also try a top hat, gloves and cane (always gives a laugh).

The details are finalised and wedding booked. The rest of the wedding party must call into Top Hat to get measured. Then one week before the wedding all the guys come back for a final fit at this stage we make sure everything fits to perfection, we show how the suits are worn and how to wear the buttonhole, when the jackets are worn open and closed. With all of this done the customers are very happy knowing they are dealing with the experts.

The suits are ready for collection on required date, in proper suit cover with their names on so no confusion…

I hope this gives you a preview of our customer service, come and experience it for yourself.

Clashing bridesmaids

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

As mismatched bridesmaids dresses become more popular in the USA, it is only  a matter of time before it starts here.  It’s handy when you might have a colour in mind that definitely won’t suit all your bridemaids.  We really like it, and here are some of our favourites.

Ophelia Bridal – Drogheda, County Louth

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

We had the absolute pleasure of visiting Ophelia Bridal owned by Aoife O Broin, it’s based in Drogheda, County Louth.  It is one of the most spectacular bridal shops we’ve ever visited.  A beautiful room, decked out in old furniture and chandeliers.  On top of all that, Aoife has the most fab range of dresses.

Ophelia-Bridal

Ophelia Bridal in Drogheda opened in January 2007. It is the lifelong dream of fashion designer Aoife O Broin. Having specialised in Bridal Wear at the Grafton Academy of Dress Design in Dublin, Aoife went on to work as a designer for the next 13 years. During this time she made bespoke dresses for private clients from her studio in Drogheda. It was always her ambition to open a bridal boutique and this finally came to fruition in 2007 when Ophelia Bridal opened its doors. Initially Aoife worked from her private studio but has since moved to a larger showroom on Laurence`s St in Drogheda. It is stocked with designs of a truly international flavour, Cymbeline and Mariees de Paris from Paris, Aire by Rosa Clara and Novia D`Art from Barcelona and Essense from Australia. Each gown is an exquisite example of opulence and design with vintage lace, silk crepe and crushed taffeta abound. The website shows just a selection of the gowns available. Aoife works on a one to one basis with each bride, helping her choose the right style and colour for that special day.

South African Wedding ‘Splash’

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

Imagine this; A picture postcard setting, chosen specifically for that reason.  You and your guests are posing for the photographer, and next thing you know, most of your guests are neck deep in the water. :-O

As the decking collapsed some of the guests plunged in to the water, leaving the bride and groom shocked as they watched their guests being fished out, one by one.

Group Photograph taken just before the decking collapsed.
