We’ve been massive fans of Karen for quite some time and we were delighted she accepted our invitation to be a guest blogger.

Get ready, because she’ll be blogging Karen style this weekend.

Welcome Karen :)

Happy out

Thursday, March 3rd, 2011

It seems the more people who find out I’m getting married (FYI I’m going to call it married from here on in, as it feels like it, and it carries the same responsibilities and rights) the more I come
to the conclusion that Ireland really has moved on in so many ways. Got chatting to a rather delightful lady tonight who I believe was either mad, drunk or well both quite frankly and she was just thrilled for us both. It’s great to see so many people embracing this culture change to catholic Ireland. It warms this gays heart.

I think our government would be very surprised if a referendum was done just how progressive we’ve come. There are still hurdles which I will talk about another time. But all in all – I’m happy out :-)

Have a good night all.

Campaigners in Dublin ‘march for marriage’

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

RTE.ie - March for Marriage

Campaigners for civil marriages have taken part in a ‘march for marriage’ in Dublin this afternoon.

The march is in protest against the Civil Partnership Bill, which was signed into law last month.

The Bill provides legal recognition for same-sex couples and provides marriage-like benefits in the areas of property, social welfare and tax.

But same sex campaigners have objected to the bill, saying it makes people they represent seem like second-class citizens. The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender campaign group ‘Noise’ which is calling for civil marriages for all people of Ireland, have organised today’s march.

Winter Weddings @ Kenmare Bay Hotel

Award Winning Kenmare Bay Hotel

Award Winning Kenmare Bay Hotel

Winter weddings are becoming more and more popular. The weather’s so unreliable in this country that you might as well pick a winter date – at least you’ll have a fair idea of what the temperature will be like and if it doesn’t rain it’s a bonus! Having said that though, we do get some lovely winter days – perfectly still with crisp, blue skies – great for photos. The other good thing about winter weddings from your guests’ point of view, is that the accommodation rates in hotels tend to be quite a bit lower than during the summer months. It all helps in this current economic climate!

Kenmare Bay Hotel

Kenmare Bay Hotel

If you are thinking of a winter date, there are some great offers out there at the moment. The award-winning Kenmare Bay Hotel & Resort has a particularly nice offer. They will give you a gift of €1,000 plus 5 complimentary rooms for a wedding on selected dates in December 2010, January & February 2011. December weddings are lovely – and there’s still plenty of time to organise a wedding before the end of the year. Once you have the church and your venue booked, the next most important things are probably your wedding dress, a photographer and a good band.
Everything else can easily be arranged at short notice, providing you are organised and have a bit of help – it’s easy! The Kenmare Bay Hotel is also offering the following for any wedding booked in 2010 or 2011; sparkling wine & canapés for your guests’ arrival; no surcharge for a choice of starter, main or dessert medley; 50% discount on their listed wines. Amazingly, these offers can also be used in conjunction with the above winter wedding offer.

There are a couple of terms & conditions that apply to the winter offer, so it’s best to check out their website on www.kenmarebayhotel.com – but really there’s no catch, it’s simply a great offer!

If you would like to view the Kenmare Bay Hotel or just want to have a chat about your wedding requirements, contact Sue on 064 66 41300 or sue@kenmarebayhotel.com. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by how much they care about your wedding.

Here you can see a wedding display with aprox 120 cupcakes on 6 tiered perspex stand. The cutting cake also featured a gorgeous decorative brooch.

Your wedding cake is a central focal point on the day, and should be a true reflection of your style & personality. A tower of stylish wedding cupcakes will be truly memorable, and your guests will delight in the unique display and delicious flavours.

CUPCAKES: All cupcakes are home made to order, and I am dedicated to using high quality ingredients (Irish where possible) and free-range eggs are used at all times. I offer a mouth watering choice of flavours, and this range is expanding all the time. I can colour-match flowers/icing to your requirements and am constantly developing new decorating ideas.

CUTTING CAKE: In addition, I can supply a coordinating iced chocolate biscuit cake (cutting cake) to top off the display. Other flavours of cutting-cake also available on request.

I would be delighted to meet with you for a consultation, where you can sample cake flavours, see decorations in detail, view my design options in full, & discuss all your ideas in comfort. A consultation should take place no later than 6 weeks prior to the wedding, but to ensure availability, as I can usually only do one wedding per two-day period, please contact me as early as possible.

EXTRAS: There are a number of extras that may be used to enhance the overall appearance of your cake display, such as silver/gold/coloured/patterned paper baking cases, cupcake wrappers (decorative paper “wraps” that come in a multitude of designs, styles & colours), ribbons, cake brooches and more. All of these options can be included on request, subject to availability.

PRICES: Because every cake design is different to the next, and some decorations take far longer to make than others, it is difficult to summarise the different price categories, but start at €2.30 per cupcake for the simplest decoration.

DELIVERY, SET UP ETC.: Delivery to venue (greater Dublin area), set up & stand hire is also available. For locations outside Dublin arrangements may be agreed where possible.

Find Cupcake Queenie on Facebook.
